phew!

Good thing I've got my walking shoes ready, because that's all I've been doing for the last day and a half. It's all for a good cause though. John has now seen many of the lovely sights of Cork, as well as eaten toffee cake for his birthday. Which is more important... who can say? Today we walked along the River Lee, to the Shaky Bridge and into the park. It's nice to finally see what it looks like with everything leafy and in bloom. Today was actually a bit chillier than earlier in the week, but that didn't stop the weather hardened Irish folk from sunbathing. I accidentally caught one such shirtless wonder in my picture of the mirror tree. John was as enamored with the tree as anyone looking at a real tree covered in pieces of mirror should be.

After the park we headed up to UCC. We retraced the often traveled path to my various classes, in addition to the library and student center. The tulips were in full bloom there and so brilliantly red that my camera could not handle their awesomeness.

Obviously, I took a picture anyway. Eventually we rambled on to the fabled An Brog. And that was only today. Yesterday included meeting Laurie's family at Jackie Lennox's and reveling in huge portions of fish n' chips. Tomorrow we have a trip planned to Fota Wildlife Park. Funtimes! Meanwhile, it's bright and early for me in the morning, so gute nacht!
