On the Road to Employment

Besides the weeks waiting for the interview summons, the road to employment continues to drag on. I made it through my interview Monday feeling fairly confident. Although their formula of asking about times you've failed and how people disliked you was rather disconcerting. Of course, everybody likes me and I've never failed at anything, so these were very difficult questions (insert sarcastic "har har" here). They really were actually. If nothing else, they have not one, but two sets of my fingerprints. (And, as I suspected, my impeccable choice of warm-toned business attire stood out amongst the black and grey pantsuit sets. Yeah, I know I'm a fashion geek). Laurie demanded photos from me, so I took pictures of my interview look, along with my other latest shopping finds. (I miss you shopping buddy!!)

Obviously, I'm not particularly talented at taking full-body photos of myself.

This was one of those miraculous moments where you go looking for a certain something, and find it for $3! Now I have my very own vestie.

The cupcakes have a cool Claes Oldenburg "Pastry Case" feel.

Most everything except the cupcake tank-top came from the Thrift Store. I have Plato's Closet to thank for the tank.

Meanwhile, I was told that the panel would try to finish all interviews within this week and have decisions made around mid-July! If I'm selected, I'll get to start training in August. Looks like my highly anticipated visit to Laurie is canceled. Unless I find some alternative work in the interim. (See what I mean about the long road? Who knew picking employees to determine people's social security benefits was so serious?)

Finally, as I lack any photos of mine and John's fabulous yesterday, in which we cooked locally grown produce from Murphree's Market and grilled New York Strip steaks to create a most delicious dinner, then went to see the quite entertaining film Get Smart (take a deep breathe here and remember the point of the sentence), I went outside today and took a bunch of pics of the flowers in my yard. Maybe those of us who are currently living in the wet and cold will enjoy a touch o' summer. Then I died of heatstroke because it's ninety-something degrees outside. All in good fun of course.

Last but not least, I tried to take photos of a painting I'm working on. The color refused to come out right, so I'm posting it in various shades and angles to try to convey an approximation of its appearance. Alas, it remains unfinished. I was going strong until my kitty cat walked some paint across it. After restoring it to some semblance of looking okay I became despondent about it not looking as good as it did. No worries, I will get it done eventually!

Ahhhh!!! I miss you too, shopping buddy!

Those are amazing finds! Dangit... $3.00? I got so fed up with the Thrift Store on vesties that I just buckled and paid full price for mine. Congrats on that one. Looks good on ya! And that skirt is pretty awesome, too.

Wow. That *is* a long process. So... what are you gonna do with your summer?

(thanks for the sunny pics)
